Monday mornings are an opportunity to set the tone for the entire school week. I use Bulk Texter Pro to help me build strong relationships with my students and families. It is an opportunity to connect, build relationships, and let families know that there is a real person teaching their child and that I care about their student.
\nMy Monday morning texts are more than just a reminder. When we think about texting families, it can be easy to focus on reminders:
\nThose messages are important, but real relationships with families are more than a list of reminders. I use Bulk Texter Pro on Monday mornings to send my homeroom families a weekly message that is designed to start a conversation. The goal is simple: connect first, communicate second.
\nMy message typically includes three things:
\nI might share something as simple as what I did over the weekend such as spending time with family, going to Disney with my wife and kids or which of my daughter’s had a birthday party to go to, watching the Miami Dolphins game, going out to dinner with grandparents, or just enjoying some time away from work. I also try to include a picture of me or my family activity.
\nThen I specifically changed the message to focus on them. I'll ask students and families something like: \"What did you do this weekend? Did you do anything fun, relaxing, or exciting?\" This simple gesture gives students and families a chance to share something about themselves that has nothing to do with grades or assignments.
\nFinally, I include a schoolwork goal for the week. Usually, my goal focuses on students completing a certain percentage of their overall class work (like getting to 45% complete in all classes). Your goal could be to have students focus on completing assignments, staying organized, attending school or lessons, communicating with teachers, or simply having a positive and productive week.
\nAt first, I was nervous to share something about my own weekend. What if the families didn’t respond or used the pictures and information inappropriately, especially because I have been working with high school and middle school students. I actually found that my concerns were not that big a deal because my communication became more personal.
\nWhen I share something about myself, I am giving students and families an opportunity to see me as more than just their teacher. I am also showing them that I am interested in getting to know them as people which increases buy-in through the school year.
\nWhat I feel is really important is to create a two-way conversation with the family. I'm not just sending information. I'm trying to get them to engage with me. Some families choose not to respond that week, which is okay. Some families choose to share a short response such as: \"We went to the beach!\" or \"We visited family.\"
\nBut sometimes, families choose to have a longer conversation with me. They will share stories about birthday parties, special family events, and how their kids’ extra-curricular activities went. In special moments, families have even shared pictures and videos of the student and family events. I got to see my students’ celebrating grandma’s 90th birthday or hitting their first homerun for baseball. These interactions can help me learn more about my students, their interests, their families, and what is happening in their lives outside of school.
\nAnd sometimes those seemingly small conversations become important later. When a student is struggling academically or becomes disengaged, already having an established relationship with the family can make those more challenging conversations easier.
\nMy Monday morning message takes only a few minutes to prepare, but it gives me an opportunity to start the week on a positive note, learn something about my students, communicate an academic goal, and remind families that we are working together. Remember technology doesn’t build relationships, people do!

Once your templates are set, the sending part is mechanical. Put your class list in a spreadsheet with the columns each template needs:

\nTo get your batch from your computer to your phone, an encrypted copy has to pass through our server. Here's how we keep it private:
\nBecause the secret code unlocks your batch, don't share it with anyone.
\nIf you prefer, you can also click Download batch file instead and use our classic file workflow.
\nThe other big change is that iMessage batches now show up in History with real sending progress. As the Shortcut sends each text, it reports that back to Bulk Texter Pro. Open a batch in History and you'll see texts move from pending to sent, and once everything has gone out, the batch is marked Complete.
\nUntil now, iMessage was the one platform where History couldn't tell you what had actually been sent. Now you can see it, and the record sticks around alongside all your other batches.

Both platforms already have an SMS API, and both APIs are well built. They're also the wrong tool for most of the people who ask us about this.
\nGoing the API route means creating a developer app, generating and storing credentials, writing code against an HTTP endpoint (or paying for middleware that will), and getting whoever administers your account to sign off on the whole arrangement. For a teacher with a class list or a front office with tomorrow's schedule, that's where the project quietly dies.
\nBulk Texter Pro takes a different route. It drives the web app you already use — clicking, typing, sending — just faster and without typos. So there are no API keys, no developer app, and no permissions you don't already have. If your number can send a text today, you can be sending personalized batches in about five minutes.
\nOne prerequisite applies to both, and no tool can work around it: your number has to be SMS-enabled already.
\nBoth platforms require registration before any number can send texts — brand and campaign registration on 8x8, SMS registration or toll-free verification on RingCentral. That's a carrier requirement across the industry, not something either company invented.
\nThe quick test is the same either way: sign into the web app and text your own cell phone. If it arrives, you're ready. If it doesn't, your administrator needs to finish registration first.
\nOn the Bulk Texter Pro side, your subscription has to cover the platform you're sending from — either the All Platforms subscription, or a subscription specific to 8x8 or RingCentral. You can sign up right inside the app, and if you're already a subscriber on a different platform, you can update your existing subscription to include 8x8 or RingCentral from the Account Menu at the top right of Bulk Texter Pro.
\nRingCentral enforces a 1.4 MB limit on photo attachments, which is small — a photo straight off a modern phone will blow past it easily.
\nYou don't need to do anything about it. If the photo you attach is larger than the limit, Bulk Texter Pro resizes it automatically before sending. (Animated GIFs are the exception — those aren't resized, so a large GIF will need compressing first.)

Zoom Phone is a solid business phone, and if your company already lives in Zoom it's hard to argue with keeping everything on one platform. But it has no bulk texting at all — not even the basic broadcast some competitors offer. One thread at a time was the only option Zoom gave you.
\nBulk Texter Pro fills that gap: write once, personalize from a spreadsheet, send from the number you already have. Each recipient gets a private thread, and replies come back into your normal Zoom Phone conversations.
\nZoom limits outgoing messages to 500 characters by default. Go over and Zoom refuses to send.
\nThis bites more often with mail merge than you'd expect, because your merged message is longer than your template — a 480-character template looks safe until a long name pushes a few recipients over the line. Your Zoom administrator can raise the ceiling to 1,600 characters in account settings, and the preview screen shows you the real length of every message before anything sends.
\nZoom's SMS registration is also more involved than most platforms', so confirm you can text from the Zoom web app before you start.

A lot of our users are one-person operations who needed a second number and didn't want to pay for a business phone system. TextNow is a cheap, fast way to get one — but it has no bulk sending at all, so texting sixty customers meant typing sixty messages.

Texting another iPhone, your messages go out as normal blue-bubble iMessages from the number your recipients already have saved. If someone's on Android, Apple falls back to SMS automatically. Replies come back into the Messages app like any other text, and nobody sees anyone else's number.
\nWe built this on Apple's official Shortcuts app rather than on jailbreaks or unofficial Messages replacements. That matters for a few reasons: it's a supported automation framework, it isn't going to get your Apple account into trouble, and it doesn't require you to install anything sketchy.
\nIt also means you don't need a Mac. A lot of iMessage bulk texting tools are Mac-only. Ours works on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
\nBecause we're working within Shortcuts, a few things are outside our control. Shortcuts can't schedule messages and strips the + from international numbers. If those matter to your workflow, Google Voice or Android will serve you better.
The setup also takes a few more minutes than our web-based platforms, since you'll install our Shortcut alongside the extension.
